Leaders
Guys
what sort of leaders are you using and how long do they need to be ? also do you use snap swivels for ease of changing lures ? |

Mate i use a rod length of 6lb berkley vanish and nah dont use swivels as they can alter the lures movement and cramp its style in some cases. I find it better tying your lure on. The only problem is when you run out of leader you have to tie a new leader.

About a rod length is good for me in the leader department. As to attaching lure's l use a small berkley snap lock and it does'nt alter even the smallest of lure's IMO...

I use a rod length of yamatoyo generally in 8lb but will drop to 6lb if required and I tie on everything.

With Finns PRT and Rapala Titanium(which l now use) being true braid's l no longer tie a double in my main line as l find it no longer necessary as with gel spun Berkley products...JMO

I've never tied a double, but occasionall just double the Fireline over if needed, generally on leaders of 8lb+.
Do a search on leaders here in the forums and you will have enough reading material to keep you going for a while

Berkley Snap Lock
Hey Steve, What size is the Snap Lock? Very interested to give this a go. As I have been attatching lure on to loop and gettin old and all (eyes) takes me ages to swap lures. So you think it really doesnt effect your catch rate?

6-8lb Yamatoyo for me all the way. I've been using it for a few years now and have been pretty impressed with the stuff. I use a loop in the XDS as it makes changing the leader easier for me. Only use loop knots on my HB's.

I use a bit more than a rod length of leader, usually most of the leader is Yo-Zuri Hybrid with a 50cm lingth of Linesystems FC down atr the business end. reason being the YZ is a FC/mono blend (low vis) and it saves money on $$$ FC.
