Not my fave hull, but they are a popular boat.

I'd look at getting the 55lb MK as far as electric goes.

I don't have one at the moment mate, but am seriously looking at a Bay style boat. Hoping to find something local rather than have to bring one in from the States.

so bear, with the experience you have had in bream boats, would the ride between a hornet and edgy or a explorer and edgy be a fairer comparison?

Hornets

Jigger,
I have had a 435 for just over twelve months.
check this thread
http://www.breammaster.com/forum/sho...ghlight=Trophy

I am very happy with it. Bear is right with leccy choice, I have a 55lb RT-AP, works well.
I have had a lot of different people fish with me and they all seemed to like it.
cheers muzz.

I couldn't say with the new Mako Craft boats, but with the Stessl boats I've been in, I prefer the ride in the Tournament hulls over the Quinnies. Any one who has been in Mullets boat will know what I mean. The ride difference is a little closer in the std hulls. but I prefer the room you get in the Stessl over Quinnie.

Talking Bear you bad bad boy!

You KNOW you will now have te hornet police after you don''t you Bear!!!

I well remember once publicly saying something 'less than positive" about the Hornet...

Lemme see I think the Quinne factory still have a wanted poster of me posted at the door!

So - I'm guessing we won't see you sponsored by them anytime soon eh?

You know Bear - if I was going to buy a bay boat - you CAN now get the scout boats here - BUt that said - I'd still opt to bring in a "Bone" boats hull - I don't think I've seen prettier hull lines anywhere!

Heck - maybe you could get the agency for them downunder!!

Never know unless you ask!

Cheers!

Never been shy about my Quinnie feelings Trouty, but as always, they are JMO. I'm happy for people to make their own decision and it's obvious that my opinion has made very little impact on Quinne sales by our Major Sponsor.

Do like that boat Trouty. If I had the money there are a few I wouldn't mind the agency for. Still waiting for that lotto dream to come true

Haven't always been a big ali fan in general but will say i like the Hornets.

Reasonably finished and they do have excellent re-sale which is important IMHO

Also do still love my Poly's as well thou..

Hi Jigger,
We bought a Hornet 435 (not a Trophy), in December 05 as the standard hull with two only options: extruded decks and Electric mount plate. Firstly opted for a 30 HP 3 Cyl Yammie, but after careful thinking (expected extra weight of electric, livewell, battery opted for a 40 HP three cyl 2 St. Yammie, tiller control. Absolutely love it. It is still under 10 hours (damn work!).
I looked at Edgies before buying a Quinnie. At the time they were transitioning from Stessl to Mako Craft. The local dealer was selling the last stock of Edgies and what I saw did put me off. Deep scratches along the hulls, nicks, dents (we checked four and they were all the same). The dealer said that was normal (really?) and happens during the freight. I checked Quintrex and they were well above the rest.
It rides beautifully, very stable and wide (2.05m beam). I went for 4.35 because the hull thickness is 3mm from 4.35m onwards. Would love to get a Trophy, but...Happy with what we got. Ordered electric today, can't wait. Nothing beats the brand new rig IMHO.
Good luck in finding your ultimate rig.
Cheers,
Alex/Paul
