You just cant ask that sort of question and expect an honest and non biased answer. Maybe ask how many people use them and how they rate them. They have their own good and bad points.

I use penns almost exclusively and they havent failed

the penn 3000 and i dont know the exact size but the symetre is the small bream size

penn affinity

i have a penn affinity, and it hasn't failed me yet ive caught numorous big bream and flathead with it and never missed a beat.
great little reel.

i havent used the penn, but i just bought a symetre 2500 and its a brillant reel, smooth with an excellent drag.

The Symetre is way lighter than the Affinity. More compact, better shaped body.

I'de pick an affinity over a symetre any time, any place, any where.... Why? Although its heavier than the symetre, it has a full metal body which is very durable. It also has 8 bearings....
