Mallacoota

Hey all,
I am going down to have a fish at my first BREAM event as a non-boater at the Mallacoota comp.
Can anyone give me a few hints as to little details that we all take for granted.......eg.start time? do you fish all day? Do you take food and water out in the morning?

Is anyone else fishing this event also??

Any help would be much appreciated
thanks,

Definately take a drink and something to nibble on.

The comps in Perth usually start around 6.30am and go till 12-1pm. You will have your line in the water nearly all the time, thats the best way to catch em. LOL. Seriously it is constant cast and retrieve, with an occasional break as you move to a different spot.

I hope you enjoy your first tournament. Guarantee you will learn something new and have a great time.

Good luck and have fun

Mim

i agree with mim...definately take something to eat and more importantly drink. even if its to eat on the way back to the weigh in.

i took some food in the melbourne comp but didnt eat until the comp was over.....too busy casting

its usually a 7 hour day, 6am to 1pm or 7am to 2 pm.

as a non boater you need to provide your own pfd....i hired one from canoes plus in kew....$10-12 for the weekend. when you meet your boater the night before, check if they have a pfd for you, and if they do then you dont need to bring yours..1 less thing to carry.

if possible have a 2nd rod....1 for plastics and 1 for hb's...makes it easier to swap between the 2...or if you have a major tangle, you can get a lure in the water quicker.

the melbourne comp was my first and i can honestly say i learnt more in the 2 days than in 2 weeks fishing alone. i had such a good laugh and although i didnt weigh a fish in, i'm going to enter the comp next year

PFD ?

Hi Truc

I know that the majority of boaters have 2 PFD's on board. Personally I have 4 so if your boater doesn't have one you can always borrow one of mine. Seeya Sat.

G'day John-Paul,

I met Ira by chance at Anglers Anon last week and he did say that the BREAM-ers were a great bunch of guys and that i'd have a lot of fun!
- well he was not wrong there!

thanks, i will chase you down fri/sat if i don't end up with a pfd.

Cheers,
Truc

in regards to PFDs, you can buy a cheap PFD1 for $15 from whitworths (www.whitworths.com.au), cheaper than hiring
