nice one

I'm just waiting for some funds to get my aquarium back up and running. It's been sitting here for 3 years gathering dust ... now it's going to be prep'd for some lil' breamski's!

Pictures up in a few weeks

Hey guys.
I am keeping my bream in fresh water. You don't have too many disease problems, and when you do, you simply add saltwater to cure the problems. So i guess that rules out most other esturie species. the fish are very hardy and can live in a tank which is one day old.
Craig, my tank also sat there for ages, then, coz of my leg, i got bored and started it up again. It was all ready to go, as my last fish were african cichlids which lived in a very similar habitat (Kribensis). If anyone needs any help with water specs just let me know.

Nice tank Dave.
Did you use a waterbased silicon to join the stuff in the tank together as I reckon that the bream would be destructive little buggers.

Happy fishing
Ben

I have used nothing to kepp things in place. The fish are suprisingly well behaved. They are very open fish aswell. They spend most of the time out in the open. They are very easily spooked though. They must have a very effective lateral line, as they can sense me coming from a mile away! they hide at the slightest vibration! Apparantly they are quite boisterous and territorial, but i am yet to really see any naughtiness. Having said that, my last tank was an African Rift Lakes tank, with some of the most territorial fish around! So maybe i am a little hard to phase!
The fish are great fun to watch, you just need to keep still or they get spooked, and i mean spooked. One fish tries to jump out coz he gets so scared. I have to be real careful around the tank!!!

Hey Chris.
I had a few different breeds of fish. Auratus, Electric Yellows/Blues, Frontosa, and a few others which have no common name and i can't remember the scientifics. Half the time i either had to keep no females or a lot of females as the male fish are very aggresive. No Tigerfish, sorry. Rift Lake tanks are the most exciting tanks to look at. They are buzzing with activity and the colours of the fish are unbelievable. Most of the fish i kept were mouth brooders, which is an awesome thing to watch. I wasn't really into breeding fish in seperate tanks so i left it to nature. Unfortunately that meant that most fish which were born, were eaten by adult predators. The few fish that survived were awesome though!
the one fish i did try to breed was the frontosa. Those fish are very hard to successfully breed and keep alive (fingerlings). They therefore cost a fortune, but they are beautiful fish!

Nah Ben i haven't. my friend has though.
I had thought about it, as your right, the colours are aweomse, but the damage they do to tankmates is too much. They constantly nip at fins, and actually feed on their scales! the eye biting is not as frequent as suggested by the name! The mettalic blue is awesome!
