Wear and tear part failure

How often do you guys experience a part failure due to wear and tear? I seem to get one every 12-18 months of reasonably consistent use. Things like bail spring and drag knobs spring fail. I am using cheaper reels like Okuma Avengers and Daiwa Spinstars. Freetime and Daiwa have provided great service in replacing the parts for free but I'm don't want to risk being in the canoe up a river with a hot bite going and have something fail. I'm hoping if I buy a higher end reel like a Stradic I'll avoid these issues. Is this the case?

I have had an Okuma AV-15 for about 3 years now, purchased second hand. Has never given me any trouble, it is the only reel I use.

This is the second avenger drag knob that has failed on me. I do like to set my drag pretty hard which is what the Freetime guys said is probably making it fail.
