I'm not sure if they still make them or they just don't import them into the country anymore, but the Ahabs were a very solid, heavy duty reel but unfortunately you wouldn't use it for bream spinning as it was heavy, not meant for braid - ie you would compare it to using a Penn Spinfisher. Great reel but totally unsuitable for SP fishing for bream.

Thanks Budda - I just couldnt see why they would be unsuitable for bream but sounds like it is the weight factor etc of the reel.
Thanks for the details mate - greatly appreciated.

So for other type of fishing , they are good?

Regards

They still make 'em.

They're a heavy duty spinning reel, that finds the most use in the surf. They work well with braid. In fact, the 2 sizes are a pretty common sight along the NE coast of the USA on the surf beaches.

The drag performance on them is wicked. Powerful and smooth, plus affected little by water and dirt..

Oh nice

Music to my ears what you just wrote Shortlite.

I am thinking about getting some for popping GT's etc.

Thanks for your useful comments.

Cheers

I would check the gear ratio on them, as they were not really quick. I had one about 4 yrs ago. Good heavy duty drag, but did not have a really large line capacity though. They were well over $300 for memory, just didn't take off here in Oz with the large spinfishers and Shimano's baitrunner styles winning over the market.

finhor

the finhor is dead.. company only exists as a name. no parts or products with warranty available.. they went broke and have been re-purchased by W.c Bradley owners of zebco and van staal..

they have no immediate plans with the product as they are in full production on the new van staal vsb spinning reels due for release here before christmas...
