Team Daiwa Fuego Spin

Came across this whilst browsing the net......NICE!!!!

"The Team Daiwa Fuego Spinning Reel is loaded with exclusive Daiwa technology. The first Daiwa advantage you'll get with Fuego Spinning is the ultra-light magnesium frame and sideplate. This space-age framework holds the drive train in place even under heavy load and makes Fuego Spinning among the lightest spinning reels you'll find today. With Fuego, Daiwa has built a reel that offers tremendous amount of line capacity in a small, lightweight package thanks to an ultra-compact Magnesium body and large diameter spool. Fuego Spinning also incorporates the exciting Digigear® Digital Gear Design. This technology has enabled Daiwa to design the pinion and main gear to perfectly align the gear surfaces for maximum power and a noticeable increase in smoothness. The gears and drive train are supported by a seven bearing system that ensures long life in the Fuego. Daiwa has also incorporated their exclusive Super Corrosion Resistant ball bearings and a sealed drag system that excludes water and other contaminants for a failsafe drag. The bail is another Daiwa innovation; their exclusive Air Bail®, a super strong, lightweight, hollow bail with no protruding angles to hook your line. Everything else in the Fuego is vintage Daiwa. Machined aluminum spool and spare spool, Titanium Nitride ball bearing line roller, Twist Buster® II line twist reduction, and distinctive styling make Fuego Spinning a real value in elite spinning reels and the Fire Red color will make you stand out as an angler who expects the best from his gear."

Correct me if im wrong but I think its the rebadged Certate 2500R. a 3000 body and 2500 spool. Beautiful reel and now a beautiful paint job

They look nice but don't feel that great. We have them in stock at work. Not as smooth as a Luvias... could be a lack of grease internally? Comes with a free spare spool which is something you don't usually see.

Best features being nice big spool, Digigear design and machined handle instead of the folding crap that even comes on the standard Luvias and Certate. Oh but the handle knob is hard scabby plastic... not the rubber found on other models - actually hard plastic. I don't know if the knob's interchangable...

It's not a rebadged Certate; it's the US answer to the Luvias, although it's made in Japan and priced somewhere between a Luvias and a Certate.

The certate has now dropped in price from $700 odd to $520. The luvias is holding steady at $400++ so the certate definitely looks real worth it for the money.. Seen the Fuego in the local shop here but didn't enquire about it.

Isn't the luvias magnesium ???

I use mine in salt and treat it like.......... and its still going strong!!

Harldy washed it out at all and had it serviced once........Its getting close to 5 months old...

I had looked at the certat but for the price difference i can't see it could be worth while....The luvias is soooo smooth its hard to imagine BETTR performance. The certates do look nice but

No.
Most high end reels have a proportion of Mg in them to reduce weight but are coated in such a way that they can be used in salt water.

Yeah Ian just that - a coating of sorts. To be honest I doubt the actual Mg content is that high - more likely to be a light alloy with enough Mg in it to be able to patent the design!

And as for reel servicing, expect to pay 30 odd dollars for a full strip-down and regreasing.. alot of reels are labour intensive and generally will be pulled to bits, cleaned with air pressure / petrol, washed, dried and regreased.

Just released.....

"Daiwa has emerged as the front runner in introducing new innovations and technology to anglers in their elite selection of reels and the Sol Spinning Reel is another reel packed with high-tech innovations. Sol Spinning is built on a solid, one-piece aluminum frame and aluminum sideplate for incredible strength and lightweight power. This rigid framework holds the drive train in place even under heavy load. The first technological innovation to emerge in the Sol is the exciting Digigear® Digital Gear Design. This technology has enabled Daiwa to design the pinion and main gear to perfectly align the gear surfaces for maximum power and a noticeable increase in smoothness. The gears and drive train are supported by a seven bearing system that ensures long life in the Sol. Everything else in the Sol is vintage Daiwa. Machined aluminum spool and spare spool, Titanium Nitride ball bearing line roller, Twist Buster® II line twist reduction, and distinctive styling make Sol Spinning a real value in elite spinning reels and the sunshine color will make you stand out as an angler who expects the best from his gear."

Herm sounds good to me......
