Question Quantum Energy PTi

Gday All,

Just wanna know whether anyone here on BM owns one of these reels, and if so, do you like it? Reason I ask is I saw a review of this reel on
http://www.tackletour.com/reviewquantumenergypti.html so I bought one on ebay jus to give it a go. Got till next week before i get to play with it so wouldnt mind hearing some feedback
whether it be positive/negative.

Cheers

Probably the only downside to buying an overseas reels is the availability of a part shall it for instance need replacement. I think its best to check the availability of these "parts" locally before you buy any reel from overseas. Just think if its hard to find a replacement part when the reel is new, imagine if its old.

The Quantums are definately the best value for money reel available IMO. I reckon they are between a Stradic and a Sustain in terms of quality/performance. The drag is very smooth. As far as it being an "overseas" reel, it won't be for much longer. Their is a distributor for them in Australia already, not sure when they will start actually selling them locally though. They have a big opportunity to sell a lot of reels if they get the pricing right, I have heard of tackle shops importing them and selling them for $400 or so which is way too much. They retail for US$150 in the States, so around AUD$250-$280 over here would be a fair price I reckon.

Gday Wakd,

Just received the reel and am absolutely stoked with it! Just a quick question though, is it strictly a left handed reel?!? I've tried to put the handle on the right hand side but it doesnt seem to fit?!?!??

Just take it back to the tackle shop you bought it from!

I am sure they would be happy to swap it for a right hand model or change the handle over for you.

Winding

Hi Buckwild, I had the same worries when I got my reels. Then I realised I was just being stupid. All reels are both left and right hand wind. It's just the threads are opposite on each side. So when changing to a right hand wind, all you have to do is put the reel stem of the handle into the hole and just carefully wind it in the direction you would if you were retrieving a lure.

Simple hey.

Nick

How do they compare with the likes of Shimano or Daiwa?

Will they be a serious contender to those two established names?

veeery interesting topic brought up here
I've seen the Energy used a few times on some bass shows, would love to know more about them. everything ive read so far has been good, and at a reasonable price too.

if it really is between a sustain and a stradic, daiwa and shimano have some competition in their hands

please share more info about it, if it performs as well as it looks i reckon i might be adding a new reel to my collection

Reels

Hey Buckwild don't get me wrong I wasn't saying you were stupid. I was pointing out that I was.

Well put it this way guys they are really a topshelf reel at a lower shelf price. I have plans to buy more one of which will be for spinning up jew.

Chunqx when I come to Melbourns and we catch up for a fish you can have a look then if you would like a look at one.

Shimano & Diawa will loose some sales over this reel. I am now a converted Quantum Pti buyer- sorry Shimano.
