Exclamation Bream boat project

Gday guys,
I've been after a boat for a while now, something for me to 'do up' and set up as my little bream punt. I found a possibility the other week, on ebay!! I ended up bidding on it, and winning it for $450, tinny and trailer, which, from the photo, looked rather reasonable. Old, but reasonable. I picked the boat up today from sth gippsland, and have started on it already. It is a basic 'open boat' tinny, not an explorer or flared bow type, didnt come with a motor but its not bad for the amount of money I paid for it.

In the long run, I 'd like to do these things to it:
*Rip all the wood and sh*t thats inside and outside the hull
*Paint off! (You'll see why!!)
*New paint job
*Carpeted floor
*Front casting deck
*Rear deck
*Cut the bow rail down
*New 'hatch' for the bow storage, for anchor etc
*Take the stock standard hod holders out of the transom
*Buy motor for it
*Make sure that's ok!
*Leccy!!!
*Rego etc

The trailer isn't too bad, it looks like the last bloke made the trailer, it has full teflon/nylon skids down the guts, and as supports, but a few beams need to be re-welded, jockey wheel, new winch and wheel guards.

Should keep me busy while the bream are spawning!

I'll put up a few pics....

Ok, I've now ripped the wooden hatch out of the bow, there were two pieces siliconed in, but they weren't flush with the edges, I'll use them roughly as a template and re-do them, and put them back in.

The two pieces of timber on the bow n this pic are now...GONE!

Also, where on the back of the hull, there was a piece of timber, not just a small square under where the outboard clamps on, but running the whole width of the transom, maybe to add support to the hull

It did however, add weight, and is now...GONE! so I'll leave it for that tonight, and have another fiddle tomorrow!!

Just a quick question, I'm going to strip the paint off this hull, how should I go about it? A mate said to sandblast it, but I dunno whether to just use paint stripper instead??

If anyone has done this before or has any ideas of how to go about it, feel free to let me know!!
Thanks

Hi there Dylman
A friend of mine in Melbourne is producing a light weight panel that you might be interested in if you look up his web site
www.multipanel.com.au the guys name is Tony contact him tell him i told you to look it up and contact him, he will help you out . the panel is half the weight of ply, rot proof water proof can be routed screwed glued anything you want to do with it. you can carpet straight onto it veneer it and wood working tools can be used on it , also the thinner sheets can be shaped with a heat gun.
comes in 2400x 1200 or 1800x900 sheets
6mm,12mm,16mm,18mm,25mm and 32mm
give him a call
this is the new product that the marine industry is just switching to as they can see so many benifits with it .
if you are worried about price ask him if he has any factory seconds, which usually only need a sand and will save you big bucks.
anyway hope this helps
Stephen Wilson

good luck dylman, looks like u have a bit of a project over winter .just remember not to make the decks too high ,because it is a v-hull,if u put high decks it willl become incredibly unstable, just something to keep in mind, regards,ba

Thanks ba, yeah I have put that thought into consideration, seeing as it is a V-hull, the decks will only be as high as the existing thwarts, and will be bigger in comparison to short, high platforms. Thanks though!!

You'll hopefully see some more pics soon!!
