Talking I did up the sub

Seeing as i have been away for a while, a lot of you wouldn't be aware i did up my boat.
I can hear the screams of "what the hell did you do that for" from here allready, but there was no way in the world my Mrs was going to let me trade it in so i was left with no other choice. Besides i like my ugly little punt.
Stay tuned i'll tear down to the shed and get some pics!!!!!!

Thumbs up Great to see you back buddy...

Hey Geoff,

Good to see you back on deck. I should have had your name on that message on the front.

For those of you who have been around for a while, Geoff was the backbone of our store when it first opened.

He has also been a friendly voice, and a source of information for me during what has been a very trying period. Considering how he departed us, it shows the testament of the guy to even give us the time of day.

Hopefully he will be a regular face and friend to all moving forward. See if you can get Craig and Browny online for tonight...

I still have those pics from your bucks show...hehehe

Warren

The Plan

Ok any one who's ever been on the sub knows (quote Mr Craig Andrew Stewart E`squire) she's as stable as your lounge room floor, but it was wet boat and rods kept getting stood on and was generally a bit of a mess to fish in.
I wanted two rod lockers, a dividable single live well, a flat fishable surface and that groovy carpet man!!!!!!!, purple haze baby yeah.
Here's the livewell 120 L, it is recessed 100mm at the back in order to stop the water flowing out over the back whilst trying to get up on the plane, like a lot of quinnies have a problem with, which i may add is not a problem for my Sub/Aircraft Carrier

Another shot of the recessed livewell

I bought a 19mm water tank fitting in bunnings for less than $15 in order to create a quintrex style drain, (better than paying the $160 from BLA for a similar system) to empty it i just unscrew the pipe. when full and getting up on the plane or travelling i put the cap on top to stop the water draining out.

To control it all

I put all my electrics below decks in order to keep them as dry as possible, you won't find any wiring running through the bilge. It's all running in a channel in the aluminium frame beneath the ply.
Here's a shot of my livewell control switch and my auto bilge pump switch, i am sure you all know what they do.
Instead of having a ****************e load of wires all corroding togethor on the battery terminals, i bought 2 "Buzz Bars" one is positive one is negative. All positive wires are on the positive Buzz all neg on the Neg buzz, this keeps thing clean and simple and easy to maintain, the buzz bars are screwed into wood and a single wire goes to the battery from each buzz in order to supply power to all my onboard systems (**************** that sounds war-y!!!!!). All the buzz bars and wiring are located under the board with the switches in, i'll zip out and get a photo.

Here's a better shot

This one shows the whole system a lot better, the Kota ( May the bream gods's bless the Kota) is wired directly to the battery to save on any break down of continuity, and the buzz bars have their own pole each (Next Pic), on the left is my livewell contrll and next to it is the auto bilge, i have a float switch on the floor of the hull directly under my battery system and the bilge pump (1100gph Rule) is for-ard of the back wall of the battery in the deepest part of my hull.

The pic up for the livewell and drain

Where they should be down the back of the boat, the pickup is a stainless speed boat fitting placed under the hull and the drain is a standard skin fitting out the back of the transom.
On completion i wish i had of made the drain bigger like maybe 25mm or 32mm instead of the 19mm it is, it all works fine but just for piece of mind i reckon it should be bigger.
I had a Bracket welded to my hull for the Matrix, i actually know how to use it now too!!!!!!, i can see the bream!!!!!!on it!!!!!!

Sandblasted

I had the Hull sandblasted before any work was done to my hull, welders need nice clean surfaces to weld too, not too mention that the next time this hull is seen on the tournament circuit it will have a gucci paint job. I am thinking of making it look like a Pink and Purple Tiger of Dan Mcgrath's stable complete with World War Two fighter plane shark mouth on the front!!!!!!

How could i forget

The 8'3in twin rod lockers, one for me and one for my grotty incompetant non boater, there is no way we'll ever bust a rod again.
These rod lockers run down each side of my hull from the bow to the stern.
This is a shot of the starboard?????? left?????? (i hope thats correct) side from the bow
