16 for boats in ABT, 17 for WABT, no age for kayak, they forgot to mention that in the ABT rules and I have called ABT to clarify and they said it is ok

Dont forget you must wear a Type 1 PFD rather than a type 2 or 3 bouyancy vest.(will be written on australian standards certification tag inside jacket)
The inflateable yoke style are good for yakking and not too expensive. Most kayak fishing vests are type 3

Paying on the day is ok. For the guys who have not fished these comps before please be mindful of competition etiquette especially as I expect we will see a lot more boats amongst the yakkkers than previous rounds this year. Whilst I am sure it will be mentioned at the briefing the main one is to keep a minimum of 30m from other competitors (if you want to fish next to your mate its ok but give others room) and not to drop in on some bodies drift ie if they are working along a stretch dont move into the water they are about to fish.Boaters are also expected to return same courtesy to the yaks.
