Albright leader knot
I have recently been having problems with the knot I use to join my leader. I use a version of the albright knot twisting the line both up and down the leader. I usually go about 6-7 turns up and the same number down.
Now my question is is this enough turns? or is it too many? Would it be safe to go down to say 4 turns each way to help lower the profile of the knot and thus help casting distance? thx NIZ |

10 up 10 down
I must be doing something wrong then cause with 6 up 6 down I always seem to have probs with line getting snagged on my guides. Do you guys bring the line out the same way in goes into the loop or the other way round? I make come out the opposite way it goes in.

If you use 4lb fireline and 4 lb fluoro, I doubt you'd have a knot big enough to snag the guide. Unless of course, you're not tying the albright properly. I just started using the improved albright knot and it has more advantages so far than disadvantages.
