I *don't* believe this sh*t!! All my life I've owned crappy rods - and nothing bad has ever happened to them. A couple of months ago I buy a beautiful Gary Howard Custom Samarai 6' rod, and bam! It gets snapped off at the tip in the car door!
How do they fix something like that? And CAN they fix something like that? It's a clean break in the rod about one centimetre from the tip....just below where the tip is joined on the rod. Please, please tell me they can fix this. I'm also buying a rod holder after this. Kevin

it should be able to be repaired...a 1 cm loss from the tip isnt too bad. the best bet would be to talk to your LTS. they should be able to help repair it or know someone that can.

G'day Kev,
I may be a bit over the top with my tackle and stuff and possibly pesimistic too but i carry a few spare tips of various sizes, a few fuji single foot guides and a few fuji bsvlg guides along with some thread and some fingernail clear polish in my main tackle box. A small stick of hot melt glue is mandatory in all tackle boxes in my opinion anyways. A simple tip breakoff i would just sand the tip back a fraction and hot glue a new tip on. A tube tip glued on needs no binding and it will never come off while fishing or with pliers. One cm of rod missing wont affect it that much to worry about. From many yrs of exploring the coast of qld with the rods on the bullbar of the 4x4 i learnt that a few spares are basically mandatory for the tackle box. Esp when even bugs like christmas beetles hit while driving the freeways can crack the aluminium oxide rings in the guides. Better to be ablke to fix that rod when you need to to keep fishing than to sit with a glum look watching your friends brain the fish at your feet. Tony.

Good news to report today, guys. My baby is
back home - completely restored to her former glory. You'd hardly recognise she's been repaired actually. The repair time? Dropped into the shop Thursday lunchtime. Picked it up today (Monday) lunchtime. The repair cost? Nil, zip, zero, nada, not a sausage! Thanks to the lads at Captain Bligh's Tackle at Slacks Creek.
