BOSS Rods from DohDohDoh

I was going to buy a TD Sol rod 3-6kg from my tackle shop here in Newcastle, but when I told my missus about it she told me she is getting me something already for Fathers Day but wouldnt tell me. Well, she left her lay-by receipt out n she is buying me a BOSS rod from DohDohDoh(god love her, first thing fishing related she will buy me).
It's a 1-3kg rod i think and I just want to know how good they are? And does anyone on here use them? I'll probably put my Seido 1000 on it n put my CapricornXTS2500 on my Pro Tactic if they're OK, & not something that will break easily. Cheers Gav

Mate if your wife is buying you a rod, just enjoy it,and maybe not ask for negative/positive comments on it here, she thinks she is doing the right thing and rightly or wrongly was steered by a sale man at DohDohDoh. Do the righty and love her even more for trying. cheers

Soz mate n whoever thinks this im looking for negatives for this n yes it does look like that i spose. I think it's lovely she is doing this for me. Her heart was broken years ago after buying me some MX gear cheap that didnt get used much but fell apart after 1 month even after following washing recommendations etc. That's all.
If the rod does the same as the MX gear it'll set her off. Im just double checking the gear, so I might put some dollars aside in case Cheers n soz, Gav

Don't quote me on this mate, but weren't those boss rods from DohDohDoh built on loomis blanks before loomis stopped selling them last year?

They're essentially DohDohDoh branded rods, a bit like Mojiko at Anaconda... I had a look at them recently and whilst they're not top shelf they're perfectly acceptable fishing rods. If you're getting it as a gift I'm quite certain you'll get a good run out of it and you'll both be happy. They're more than a cut above Jervis Walker level gear, so you should be alright.

$9.99? Must have been a kids fibreglass rod or something.. I was refering to the graphite rods.

Yes its the graphite rod, 6.6 foot usually $34.99 i think, they had a bucket load next to the checkout at a special DohDohDoh member price of $9.99 , i thought I couldn't go wrong with $10 rod...

Strange.. The ones I looked at were around the $100 mark if I recall correctly.

I don't ever remember the cheap Boss rods being graphite. The Boss Precision rods are IM-7 with alconite guides. I've loaded them up real hard in store and still have my 100% record of not breaking a rod while showing a customer.

Very with the rod. I think I have a couple of mates that are always looking for a good deal interested now. Cheers Gav. The rod is the 2-4kg spin stick PLU-210248 FSR07X 7' rod.

We are all out of them at Bennetts, but Rutherford may still have some.
