$500 combo, what would you get?

hey guys as the post say if you have $500 max what combo would you get?

Hmm maybe a new twinpower, hopefully for a good price around $350 and not sure about the rod. I kinda like my mexican fireblood atm so probably buy a 1-4kg 2 peice. seeing how i was under the impression that a 2 peice 1-4kg didn't exist so i bought a 2-4 kg instead

500 bucks you got a fair few options example:

i scored my shimano 1000 twinpower for 209 which was a wicked deal and i spooled it with 4lbs daiwa td sensor braid so theres 70 bucks and the rod i bought to go with it is a gl2 gloomis 2-4 6' cost 260

comes to $539

mrs main combo is a 6'8" daiwa infeet 260 reel is a shimano stradic 1000 ci4 scored off breammaster for 210 needed to be respooled though

comes to $470 but after respool +70 = $540

thats two combo's just over 500 but it includes the cost of braid there will be heaps more the main thing is go tackleshop hopping and feel a heap of rods in the 200-300 range find one you like then take the new rod shopping and find a reel you like with the leftover cash

personally if you get a wicked rod you can get a shimano symitre for 130 and it will do the job fantasticly mines been abused heaps and its still vary smooth and runs great where as my mrs stradic ci4 has been babyed and ended up in the tackle shop to get serviced and isint even that old....... i do however love my twinpower and im looking forwards to trying some of the expensive daiwa reels

Hmm... Just off the top of my head
A Daiwa Luvias 2000 with a Trion Tournament. Leaves $80 for some high end braid.
Or a Daiwa Sol 2000 with a Berkley Pro Tactic maybe..

hey cray just out of interest how much did you pick up the luvias for? like it better then the sol despite the price difference?

Can't remember but i bought it brand new from DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh. It's one of the older models. I used a mates Sol for 2 days so i don't have to much experience with it but i feel the Luvias is the smoother reel and felt sturdier/more solid. Hard to explain it just felt better, also if you plan to get one put an aftermarket knob on it. I personally cant stand the T-Knob's so i put a cork one - wayy better

Edit: I think i may have got my calculations wrong haha. Yep, i did. I THINK the Luvias was $400 maybe a bit less so it's more like exactly $500 with the Trion

Sol 2000 + Pro Tactic...great combo for the money spent

Value for money combo would be a 2004 infeet reel ($200) and a Lox 7 foot, 2 piece 1-3kg($220ish) spooled with 4lb/6lb Frog 8 strand PE ($80). It is my go to bream combo and I love it sick

Having the finesse spool on the infeet is great and it took a full spool of 4lb frog. The Lox is light as you will find for the money and if you heed the warning about thewir fragility you will have a great time with it.
