Plumbing and Painting Live Well

G'day Breambo's

I need some tips on plumbing my live well and painting it.

With painting, I've heard different colours are best to keep ya bream nice a relaxed, any idea what colour would be best?

Now plumbing, I'm very new to this and not sure where to start. All I need is pump in and an over flow to help circulate the water, it already has a drain plug .

The pics added are where I plan to sit the well and then build the deck & floor around it.

Cheers

Paint????

G'day LL
I don't think I'd be painting the inside of that livewell chemicals leaking out of any paint wound not do the fish any good i would say, maybe get the inside sandblasted?? & have it treated with a non toxic finish if there is something available. I'm sure someone will come up with an answer for you but i would not paint!!

As for the overflow you will need to put a hole in the well at the height you want it to fill up to (near the top).

Bear in mind that the water needs to be able to flow out the overflow hole, through some hose and out the side of the boat ABOVE the waterline. So the livewell probably needs to be position high enough for gravity to do its job.

I appologise if you already knew this and I'm stating the obvious

i wouldn't paint it either.
once a lid goes on it the fish will stay relaxed because it's dark, i would be more worried about keeping the water temperature down and the oxygen level high.

for plumbing i would run one pump sucking water up from the back of your boat pumping through the side with am aerator valve for oxygen levels.

i have a twin overflow setup as i couldn't get to the back of my livewell but i have them running into a t section under the decks and out the back of the boat so gravity can work.

I'll take some pictures for you tonight as my set up is what i think your after

Boris
