I bought my first towadi on the weekend, got a few small bream on it and pulled the hooks on something enormous, it's got a very different action to the cup faced poppers I usually use.

Nuggman, those hoppers work good on whiting too, a fast ripping retrieve with no pauses does the trick

px45's, towadi's and tiemco pencils are my 3 faves. really like the storm crickets too, especially the black colour when the bream are nailing cidada's as the fall out of the trees on the hot summer days... awesome!!!

Great fish John-Paul

It looks like you are a fan of the heavier leader for poppers, I've only ever used 6-8lb. I have read that the action of poppers is improved with a heavier leader (15-20lb), are you using the 16lb for this reason, or for better abrasion resistance around the racks.

Towadi's for me!

Tiemco stick minnows are good to. Especially when a little extra distance is required...

The new ecogears catch fish too! Just haven't used them a lot.

Thumbs up

Hi Jazman

a heavier leader is certainly par for fishing across the racks as we 'Rack" fishers sometimes do. If you hook up 2 or 3 racks away there is not a hope in hell of getting an angry Yellowfin Bream out unless the line can cope with being dragged over and out of a rack. It's a white knuckle fight over in seconds favouring the fish. Very rewarding when done well. My favourite line for surface lures fished straight thru is Linesystems Dango Wax. It is a co polymer line that floats and gives very precise control over a surface lure. See: http://www.river2sea.com.au/categories.asp?cID=26
