No flush

l've had a bit of a search and l can't find anything to help, so l hope someone has had this problem. l went through some mud near the ramp on Sunday and notice that when l was putting the boat on the trailer water stopped coming out of from the flush hole. l went home and tried to flush it out but no water came out still. l didn't want to get the high pressure hose out and stick it into the hole until l had spoken to someone that had the same thing happen to them. Will this do any damage or should l just take it to my boat guy and get him to check it out. Its a 60hp new merc 2 stroke. Any info will be much appreciated.

Cheers Lads
Drew

There are a couple of possibilities Drew.
1 you have done your impellar becuase of the mud.
2 you have bloked inlet pipe.
There are probably a couple more possibilities but I think these might be where the problem lies.
Take it to the Boat Guy mate it is better to safe as it under warranty.

i think with it still being under waranty if the shop look at it and clean it out the future waranty wont be a prob but if he plays with it him self it might void any future waranty

Just a blockage

All you need is some heavy mono leader, like about 200lb, or about the diameter of your outlet hole. Push it up and in, and you should clear it, at least temporarily, of that mud plug.

Use mono, not wire, otherwise you may scratch and damage something. Done this at home lotsa times.

Good advice, Shortlite.
But I reckon, the mud is already hard as a rock. Drew, try to pump some water to the inlet and then try the mono as Shortlite proposed.

Good luck!

It's not a bad idea just to check the Tell Tale first. I had a similar problem after the Albany round and just cleaned some weed from the Tell Tale with a bit of mono. If that doesn't work, then switch it off straight away. Don't want to cook it.

The same thing happaned to my OB. I ended up breaking the impaller and the housing had to be replaced because I fried that to. Close to $200 and it was fixed.....then It went and done it again. I stuck a peice of thin wire up the tell tail and cleared out a heap of salt build up (I flush my motor straight after I use it to)

cheers, Nathan
