don't you hate it when you're fishing alone and you catch your PB fish, realising that you can't get into the photo with your prize release because you forgot to bring anyone else to hold the camera?

pack a small mirror in your back pack, photos dont look too flash but at least you can show your mates youre not telling porkies
although gives you incentive to ask a mate or 2 along. |

Next time,
place your fish on the ground and place YOUR rod next to the fish. Not only does it look pretty good, the rod acts as a size reference and is also proof that you caught it! Just don't choos crap ground for the photo. Dave |

Maybe you should buy a camera with an automatic timer, that way you can set it up and then run round the front and get a snap with your fish. Just gotta make sure you actually get in the shot. It can be hard to tell where it's pointing when you are around the front end (this I know from personal experience

Hehehe
I told my gf that i wanted fishing stuff for valentines. None of that romantic stuff!!! Hey its funny what bream fishing can do to a person. I use my digital video camera to take still shots. I can reverse the viewfinder so that i can see where the camera is pointing, and then take the shot with the hand remote which is so small that itis very easily concealed in the palm of you hand! I mostly don't bother though! Dave |

A great photography tip for those that don't want to carry a big tripod around is to use a little bean-bag instead. The bean-bag will mould itself around vertially anything you want to place your camera on and isn't too bulky. This is assuming you have a self-timer on your camera in the first place of course.

hi ,
I don't know anyone to go with. I have got a couple of mates who fish but have no concept of thowing lure as they are only part-timers. And as for a good camera , well , I spend to much money on the lures and I am saving to get a boat so as that I can fish the comp's and get the big one's (hopfully). Regards Ben Scott |

Spot on Pukka,
One thing I would add is not to make a bean bag with rice. The water gets in and it rots. The other things is that the foam beads can be a bit light in the wind as well. I use a small grade washed gravel for mine. The weight is perfect and still sits well with the camera. HTH.

G'day people
I've got a way around this because I fish alone probably 90% of the time being a shift worker. I have a stainless bolt mounted on the front of my boat that I carefully screw the camera on. ( looking to get a water proof housing soon Bear) On with the 10 second timer and auto click and there you have it. Now if I can only get a fish!!! Cheers Dale

Getchoo,
I fish by myself a fair bit and i know it can be a bit of a w**k ,but if you're keen to get a shot of yourself/background location in the photo w/ your fish then i use a tripod..........its a Manfrotto 210b/md10 .(techs) its stands 8 inches and can easily fit in a pack/tackle box. you basically just screw your camera into the base ,set your timer and happy snaps anyways this is a shot of it.......it was about $80 (not cheap) but is a cool little toy and is solid as (a good thing i guess when $500+ worth of camera is sitting on top )
