This Is The Fly

Hi every1

this is the fly that the bream do not think twice about it is awsome!

I went to a shop called fly world in bayswater and they have caught up 2, 15bream in a session and 3 of them were caught in the first 5 mins on that fly!

No doubt it is 1 of the best flies on the market atm but wandtheswan im sure u could make a fly just the same ur tied flies look great man!

Anyway the fly is called a BMS olive pattern!

here it is, you can get it weighted aswell

cheers pappy

I use little beadhead flies like that in grey for salmon when they're feeding on eyes. They're one of many trout patterns that works well in the salt.

It's full name is the Bullen Merri Special...I think there is a recipe for it in a recent issue of Flylife (the last one I think).

The fly is tied by Muz Wilson
Belive me if Muz lets a fly pattern out it catchs fish and lots of them.
Try the hammer heads as the have the dumb bell eyes so the hook point faces up and you can fish it a lot deeper with out having to wait for it to sink down to them and snagging the bottom.
Also try the white as it works a treat over here in vic

Bream actually see all the colours, but mostly they are in light limited conditions, like dark water.
If you want the guff on bream vision get a copy of

Development changes in the coone visual pigments of black bream Acanthropagrus butcheri. Julia Shand, Nathan S Hart Nichole Thomas and Julian C Partridge

Since this is a bream web site I would have thought it would have been available for reading on the site. Much needed really, if you know what is what. Check the WA Iniversity, Biology Dept.

Also a good read Color vision in fishes.

Scientific American Vol 246 1982 "Colour Vision in Fishes" by Joseph S Levine and Edward F. MacNichol, Jnr.

Try the Main Perth Library. If not try Scientific American itself. Cost 10 buks posted.

Also

"Light and Life in the Sea" 1990. Ed's P.J.Herring, A.K.Campbell, M. Whitfield, C.L.Maddock. Cambridge University Press with particular reference to Chapter 10 of that work, "The Colour Sensitivity and Vision of Fishes" by J.C Partridge.
“The ecology of the visual pigments of snappers (Lutjanidea) on the Great Barrier Reef”, J. N.Lythgoe, W.R.A. Muntz, J.C. Partridge, J. Shand, D. McB. Williams.
“Specialisations of the telost visual system: adaptive diversity from shallow-water to deep sea”. Shaun P Collin 1997. From “Adaptative Mechanics in the Ecology of Vision” Kluwer Achademic Publications Netherlands.
“The Visual System of Fish” Ed Douglas & Djamgoz 1990 Chapman & Hall London.

After that lot you should be well up on the vision subject. And don't let anyone tell you is isn't important. Max

Good idea Max. I'm setting up a Bream FAQ page or 10 and I'll ask permission for us to put in a link.
