Hornet Heaven/CPB

Was talking to the lads at Hornet Heaven today about getting something made and shipped to Perth.

Had a peep at their website and their stuff looked great. But does anyone have first hand experience with these guys?

It would be a little hard to monitor their progress from Perth if they turned out to be a bit shonky.

From what I have heard, Craig, they are the duck's guts when it comes to sports fishing boats.

Even dealers in Brisbane sell their hulls and recommend them.

I'm prett sure Tim Morgan has 2 of them - both 'Balance' models one a 475 and the other the 'Bream' special - they certainly look sweet in the flesh.

Here's the only pic of the 'Bream' I took, you can't really tell much....

Crikey that website is a disaster, why on earth don't they get someone to do it properly for them? It really doesn't show the business in a good light.

Whats the veridict on that Bream model Dave? Is Tim Morgan a big guy, he looks like he's making that pop a wheelie standing on the fromt there.

:-) He looks solidly built in the Breamin videos.
Bushy makes his boat pop a wheely when you see the pics in the book on bream on lures too. A narrower hull with a finer entry just doesn't have the bouyancy up front compared to the blunter punt hulls.

I didn't get to see it in detail Craig, but the layout looked great for a 3.8m (I think) boat.

Tim is pretty solid, but from what I've seen, most Hornets do the same thing with one bloke up the front.... part of the reason I'm looking at something else

Tim's boat looks the bee's proverbial knees in the videos... and at 3.8m is great for manoeuvering around in yacht clubs etc in which a 4.5m+ boat may become unwieldy...

I really do like the look of his boat and I'd defiantely check one out if I was in the market...

Chris, the boat will be a 385 Explorer with a bit of fancy work done to it I believe. With some luck I'll have a price on that tomorrow.

I purchased a boat from CCBP in late November and have never looked back. I bought the first Balance 400 Hornet Trophey (the one pictured on the website). I found their service to be second-to-none and where helpful in every way and endevoured to ensure that all was right. The boat is perfectly set up for tournament fishing and meets all my current needs.

Before I took delivery of the boat they kept me updated with its progress and sent me pictures of it via email as soon as they took delivery.

I would highly recommend them after shopping around and talking to dealers who were either not interested in doing what I wanted or difficult to deal with.

What size o/b did you go with on the 400?

30hp 2 stroke Merc. It goes really well and the hull does not seem to be affected much by any increase in weight. I normally fish one or two-up and cant tell the difference in top-end speed. Add batteries, full livewell, 55lb Minn Kota Maxxum (which weighs about 20kg itself) and it goes fine with little/if any, difference in speed.

The paintwork in the pic you posted looks excellent, is that the Quintrex factory job, or do Hornet Heaven do their own?

The painting was an extra which was done through Quintrex. Doing it this way there was only two colours to choose from. CCBP do offer painting themselves as an extra that they do it once they have taken delivery with the benefit of allowing you to choose any colour you like but this costs more than doing it through Quintrex. The painting on the other boat pictured in this thread is done through CCBP and so is Tim Morgan's other boat.

I bought my Hornet thru CCPB & would recommend them to anyone. When it had a problem they dropped everything to get it sorted ASAP. Good bunch of blokes as well.
