Should i upgrade?

I have been fishing for bream since last summer on fairly specialized gear. I use a Shimano Stella and a Shmano reel in the 2000 size however i don't know wat its called. I've used this with afair bit of sucsess.

But i've decided to up grade i'm getting a Shimano Stradic 1000 or 1500 so should i upgrade my rod aswell and is the Stradic 1000 or 1500 a good choice.

Any opionions welcome.

Always upgrade... :D :D :D

If you are a tackel rat like the rest of us, there is always room for an upgrade!

I use the Stradic 1000 myself and I own a couple of them and they have served me well The Stella is a good rod and will work well with the Stradic, and if you can afford it you can look at upgrading your rod as well. Shimano currently has the Raider Series Bream rods and they have just released the T-Curve series of spinning rods which are suited to bream (double the cost of the raiders).

I personally use Black Diamond rods and they are great!

Yeah i have a capricorn and its an awesome reel but you should get what is comfortable for you. You seem to favour shimano gear so if you want the stradic and you prefer it over the capricorn after looking at them both, I know you will enjoy it. They are a quality product as well.

You could look at upgrading your rod and using the old combo as a backup or heavier outfit say 8lb for snag pullers and use the new one for 4lb which should do you for most situations. I have a Heartland IM-6 6'6 two piece to go with my capricorn and it hasn't missed a beat yet. It would be interesting to get a full shimano outfit and a full daiwa outfit and compare them for use in different fishing situations- who knows you may like your old gear better.

Hi,

I'd recommend a corn matched with a BD bluestone bream.

I have this outfit and it goes really well. Even the small fish are fun to catch with enough power to stop good fish even around snags.

The bluestone are a great rod. You might be able to pick one up for less than $200

I agree that a corn and a BD Bluestone is a good match. I've read a head to head comparo between the corn and stradic and the Daiwa wins.

That being said, have a Shimano Stradic matched to my BD Bass Predator and boy am I happy with it.

For the 200 buck budget u have, email Cindy and c if the $199 for the Bluestone special is still on or not. That price included shipping too

i can put in a third recommendation for the BD bluestone bream

i have one and it is great! Currently paying off a stradic 1000 to put on it, i tried it out in the breammaster shop on the BD Blue and they match up very nicely, good balance and extremely light.

hope this helps!
