G Loomis SR782-2 GL-3

Hi
Apart from the BD and millers. I am getting a new G Loomis SR782-2 GL-3 6' 6" 2-4kg Spin for flicking light soft plastic for bream and jewie. Has anyone owns one of this rod what is your though compare this rod to BREAM BUSTER Finesse and Bream Reaper(similar price range $450). Any comments would be great.

Regards

Yip

I have the slightly longer version, 842-2 in IMX. Best thing I've gotten for my bream spinning. Don't own a Millerod or BD but with what I've got I don't see the need to change. The sensitivity on it coupled with 4lb Fireline, you feel EVERYTHING even with the lightest of jigheads...
Its got a whippy action which is perfect for SPs because the fish can take it and not feel any resistance and at the same time you'll feel the take, subtle as it may be.
The 2 piece config gives me so much flexibility as far as travel is concerned

One of my mates has both of the rods mentioned, he works in a tackle store that can't get Millers so he has to make do (his words). He was using the SR782-2 yesterday matched with a Sustain 1000 when we were spinning for jews, he did nothing but curse the outfit. He kept getting Fireline caught in the guides.
It could have been the small reel, as the guides on the Loomis aren't too small. Either way he was very appreciative when I gave him a spare BB finesse/Luvias 1500 combo to use, he didn't complain again.

My opinion is that Loomis make a good rod, they can be finished a bit rough, but they use quality components on great blanks. I personally prefer a shorter butt so I have all my Loomis sticks shortened, it's a simple process.
