Heavy travel rods

Going to the brains trust on this one.

I'm after a heavy spin rod for Vanuatu that can break down to at least 3 pieces. Nothing under 7 foot would be ideal, roughly in the 4-6kg and 5-10kg mark for lagoon fish and some light reef fishing. So far there is a t curve travel rod that fits the bill but wondering if anyone can suggest something else.

Budget isn't too great but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

hey mate,

I recently went on a honeymoon to Hamiltton Island and took a crucis 4 piece travel rod - the 4-7 kg one . I have two spools, one with 10lb, one with 20lb and fished 40lb leaders. It excelled above expectations
Heaps of power with the 20lb, then also threw bent minnows, etc quite well when fished with 10lb.

picked it up for under a $100 at rockdale.

cheers

Just checked it out, if I could pick one up for under $100 I would definitely get it! Seems like a nice lagoon flats rod or throwing smaller poppers over shallow reef.

Thanks for the suggestion mate, that one is going on the list

What about the LOX travel rod? It's rated at 5kg and it packs down very small. It comes with tube. It's 7'6'', which is longer than you would prefer.

I've got one that's in very good nick that you could have cheap.

Nitro have the Magnum Butt and Viper in a travel rod. Plenty of grunt but they're around $400. I watched a clip of a guy dragging in a pretty big shark on a 5 piece Viper.

Wind knot,

If you want to sell it shoot me a price in a PM and we will go from there! Thanks for the suggestion.

Seanh,

Unfortunately I can't justify spending that much on a rod il rarely use but it did cross my mind!

Cheers
