Rod suggestions

Hey all

I'm chasing a new rod.
Around 3-6kg, 2 piece, max 7'.
Will match to a 2500 Caldia SHA. Jews, big flathead, spinning metals for pelagics.
EVA grips preferable, and I really like Daiwa gear.

Looking to spend about $150.
Ideas?

Cheers!

Daiwa Gen Black or Daiwa TDX. There are a few 2-5 and 2-6kg rods that should fit the bill.

Air edges are another good option. They're super light, crisp rods.

Juat regarding this, how would I go casting 15lb leader through the guides on a gen black, wicked weasel for example?

Hadn't considered these - have you used one? I like a crisp blank so these might be worth a look.

Haven't used any but I almost bought one for light SW use a while ago. They are built on hvf blanks though so they're good value.

They make a 2-4 and 2-5kg in the right length, but might lack the guts for a real big fish. Plus I'm in a kayak usually. Might look at the 2-4 or 2-5 for heavier bream work though? I'm thinking racks and nasty spots. Thoughts?

Yeah I've seen a $145 Pflueger trion 7ft 2 piece or 1piece 3-6kg spin rod at B C F and that I've heard that it's quite sensitive and has alot of power and it great with soft plastics. I'm getting a Pflueger Trion 3-6kg 7ft 1 piece spin rod with a Daiwa Aird 4000sh spin reel soon and im hoping I get good results. And if anyone can tell me what is the recommended lure wight for the Pflueger trion 3-6kg 7ft rod i would appreciate it thanks.

Any experience with the Wild Weasel to speak of? The action - how does it load up? Suited to fishing heavier jighead plastics for bigger fish?

I really like the Itchy Twitchy. I have used it for plastics and HB. I find it walks topwaters pretty well and is great with crankbaits. Although the Drunken Monkey is lighter and a bit softer, the action is actually faster in my opinion. The Itchy Twitchy really loads up right through the blank and has a slower action. The load on the DM is further up the blank. Anyone want to talk about that?

New rod-Have a look at Crusis

I'd never heard of them before but picked up a Crusis rod for $99 on the weekend. It is amazing value! I'd be having a look around to find someone who stocks them to have a feel. They have a 7'2" model rated to 3-5kgs.

They are a good rod for the money mate. As Ned says you can buy them at fishincomau. From what I understand they are from the Lox stables, but a cheaper option. Money saved on components.

For me, the longer models were quite tip-heavy. But the 6' 1-3kg looks good as a stream rod or light kayak rod!

Still looking to discuss those Gen Blacks I mentioned above...

I use a wild weasl as one of my flatty rods and i think its a bit heavy for the type of bream stuff i do. It throws 1/4 and 3/8 jig heads all day. Have landed flathead up to 6kg on it. Pretty good rod for the price. It would balance your 2500 sha nicely

Do you think a Wicked Weasel or Pinster would match better with a 2500SHA? Pinster obviously lighter, but I can't see me running a 2004 reel with 2kg drag on a 2-5kg rod.

Thanks for the feedback on the Weasel. Would be throwing that sort of weight for flathead and jewfish.
