Tilter Steer conversion?

Hi
Does anybody know if it is possible to convert a tilter steer outboar into one that is driven using a steering wheel? i have had a look around and the lowest Hp motor that is driven by a wheel is 25Hp, this becomes a problem when the hull is only rated for 15hp.

Thanks Josh

I changed my 25 HP 4-strke mariner from tiller to foward control earlier this year. Not too much trouble at all.

You'll need the conversion kit from your outboard manufacturer (to hook up the throtle and shift cable) Cost was around 75 bucks.

A couple of cables the appropriate length for your boat (40 bucks each)

You can find the steering wheel/cable as a kit (I got mine on sale for a little under three hundred)

You'll need a foward control unit as well. Mine was a mercruiser unit from the sea rescue boat down here in Augusta (they converted back to tiller on their little zodiac) That was another hundred bucks.

As was stated, you'll need somewhat of a consol to put the wheel in. You can buy a ready made console from the likes BIAS. We just knocked one up from plate ally. It does the job for now.

I used the kill switch out of the end of the tiller and placed it on the console so I still could use the 'dead man' switch in case of falling out. Also had to fabricate a plate to hook up the steering arm to the motor.

It was like driving a new boat- highly recomend it.
