Alternatives to a Berkley Dropshot

OK so my wife is getting onto the bream on lure fishing. I bought her a 6 foot 6 Berkley Dropshot which she really enjoys using. All my rods are 7 foot so she wants to get a second rod for herself.

I know, looking for some suggestions <$200 for short rods in the 1-3kg range that I can get her to look at.

Even thinking the Daiwa Generation Black (6"10) with the split grips may be OK.

Tx

I used to have Pflueger Trion 6ft6 2-4kg rod but there is 7ft 1-3kg, it was really nice rod for flicking plastic and they only cost around $100. The other option which I would go for is Lox, they make 6ft6 and 7ft.

I hope this helps

Samaki Zing on special now for $159 online these days. I use the Dropshot Gen 2-4kg as my mainstay rod. Excellent rods in my opinion.

Austackle

Try the Austackle range of rods very well made and a good price.
Own the Featherlite 1/3 and Dominator 1/3 very nice rods to fish
with.

Cheers Shane

Hey bloodworm. I got myself a 6'6" crony stream. It is in slightly heavier than 1-3 but feels like 1-2. Lol. It is ultra finesse. I couldn't be more happy with it. They really are a pleasure to use. You may even want one for your own arsenal. I got mine from compleate angler. It fits the price bracket as well. They are built on toray blanks too.

I was going to suggest this as well. Can you tell me what the Slow action is like ? Can you really notice a difference with this action as compared to a fast action ?

They were new to me to. They just handed it to me cos I have a habit of impulse buying and it worked. I love it. It feels so delicate but had grate pulling power. Can easily handle the bigger fish.

Mate the feather lite is a great rod,the slow action takes a bit of getting use to but after a couple of fish you can see why slow action rods are becoming popular.Mainly use 2lb Fluro
with hard body's and stick baits, also use 4lb Austackle braid for topwater very versatile rod.
Bit more forgiving than a fast action less pulled hooks. The feather lite has a parabolic bend
Still plenty of power in the butt section.I was always fast action but after using a slow action
Rod,definitely worth getting one.Check out the Austackle web site full range on there.

Cheers Shane

Lox Yoshi 1-3kg, I have one and its landed everything from 7kg snapper and jews to gummy shark even. Plenty of backbone with that finesse factor.

may be still going for another day or so but they had this rod with a Shimano Elf 2500 reel for $199. Not a bod combo for the money.

She has a Rack Raider Spin 681 but it is rated 2-5kg a bit heavy for what she wants to use it for.
