Check out the dobyns champion extreme 6-12lb mate, might be a bit expensive but if you know where to look arent much more than $300. Worth every cent and will do what youre after perfectly

All of my casting rods are 7" plus and yep the Dobyns Champ Extreme are insanely good rods,I have (pre Shimano) Loomis GLX rods and they're bloody good but not as good as the Dobyns,I have the 702 which is 4-10lb and my next rod purchase will be the 701,but as was said they are exy around $500 here and just over $300 from the US,I think most high end rods are a little over priced but these are worth every cent.
Another option is the Shimano Cumara, there is a new model (eg: CUC-72MA) which from all reports is very good ,but the one I have is the original CUC-72M and these rods are the best value for money rod I own,I bought mine to try as the Tackle Tour review was outstanding and when I got it I loved it that much I sold my equivalent GLX because I liked the Cumara more, very light very sensitive feel awesome in the hand and look very good,as the old model is now discontinued you could get one for under $200 to the door, only trouble is that they are only in the US, I know its hard to buy a rod without picking it up and feeling it in hand but if you got one and didnt like it I'd buy it off you

Re;-Dobyns rods,

EJ Todd has the Dobyns from memory. I'm pretty sure that's where two members from my
family purchased there's here in Aus.
Good luck,
Gae.

Not having used a Dobyns, I cannot comment, but the specs look awesome.

Another choice is the Majorcraft Volkey line of BC rods.

http://www.majorcraft.co.jp/english/...de=cover/volky

Forum member MCYL is bringing them in or you can order them from Plat in Japan.

Good luck with your search

Cheers

Rob

I've got a few rods from the Kistler stable, noice and incredible value. These guys will ship up to four rods for the same price. And just quietly the Quantums are worth a look too (even the very cheap ones that are being quitted)
