Snapped Steez Amraam replacement

After my Steez Amraam came to an unfortunate early retirement (snapped) I am after a replacement.

I only used this rod 3 time and was absolutely in awe. I am considering a new one, however would like peoples opinion on what is out in the market. In the light spin hard body chucker range paired with a Steez 2004, 6lb PE.

So far the only contender is a Duff Rod camo stick.

All opinions welcome

This might be a completely stupid question, but have you tried getting a warranty replacement?

I was told by the local shop that Daiwa don't do warranty jobs. I wish they did.

I had the trailer hitch lock sitting on the open rod locker door, in a rush closed the door and the lock fell on the rod snapping it about 2ft from the tip.

Croc of DohDohDohDoh mate, Daiwa DO do warrantys and daiwa DO do rod reapirs, I also know this because I've personally had Daiwa replace a rod I've snapped. Go back to your "local" and tell them to get off their backside and do their bloody job.

Just don't tell them thats how you REALLY broke it ofcourse! lmao, but if you have it's a little thing called neglect and you might be up a certain creek without a paddle.

At the end of the day mate it's Daiwa decision, not the tackle shop. The shop will neither loose nor gain, to punt him off without even having the decency to call daiwa is a bit disrespectfull and just shows the consumer that they simply just don't give a rats. Theres no harm in asking, what's the worst that's going to happen? Daiwa says no in which case he is in the same spot he is in! Just a lack or care from the shop, that's all it is. Whether Daiwa says yes or no I think doesn't matter anymore, if the shop is going to lie to the customer they're certainly not going to even help him. In that situation its case closed and goodnight to the rod.

I don't know if that's a serious comment or some form of rhetorical question?

Pretty valid comment if you ask me...

Suggesting to someone to lie about how a rod was broken to claim warranty will only continue to increase the margins that are built in to the price of a rod. Unfortunately these things happen and if a repair can't be done, then the search for a new rod begins - as Muz is doing.

Muz: Have a squizz at the 101 Samurai, perfect little all rounder, super light and built with great components. The 2004 Steez is a perfect match for it! Have 2 and they are my favourite combos!

Cheers,
Paul

I don't see the reasoning in why a rod manufacturer would make something more expensive over time if they're getting a return amount back larger then normal, doesn't make sense? it's like selling a car that breaks down all the time fresh from the factory... theory being "Well we lost X amount of money on that car we had to fix because Z part broke, so we have to make Car Y, X more expensive to make up for our loss" its a merry go round of poor products and angry people... Just look how far the TD saltwater series got, They don't go off and change the whole production line because 1 rod out of a few hundred rods has a defect, its just a a matter of "friday afternoon syndrome" I'm not suggesting he go and blatent lie about it, as I personally havn't seen the rod and obviously daiwa are going to be able tell better then myself, but broken inside the locker sounds alot better then broken BY the rod rod locker.

I'm just trying to help

Money is better in the little guys pocket any day of the week if you ask me.

I will Agree with you tho Ruski, I prefer the 101 over the Amraam, I had my 2 paired with 2004 steez's and I still miss them to this date, they're a bloody top rod for the price.

Suggesting someone lie about how a rod was broken to get a warranty is not not the thing to do. No need to validate it with a reason. Good for him for taking responsibility for it i say. I also think the tackle shop should not be giving out incorrect information.

Thanks for all the replies.

The tackle shop that I have been going through is pretty damn good. The owner and staff give me quite a decent discount over the past and I guess that I have to trust in what they say.

This is straight from the Daiwa website:

My rod has broken, what do I do?
If you feel that the breakage occurred through no fault of the user then the rod should be returned to Daiwa Australia for a warranty assessment. If the rod has broken through an accident ie: a car door, ceiling fan, a fall etc, then call Daiwa Australia’s service department to discuss.

So as the bottom line suggests, I will call.

Anywho,

I had a samurai 203, which I was happy with, but when I purchased the Amraam I was blown away by this rod. I also own a 201 and 302 which I love. I haven't had the opportunity to use a 101, same with Duff Rods. I would like to at least hold one before I commit to spending on a custom, so in saying that does anyone in Brisbane stock the off the shelf Duff rods to at least play with???
