Mercury 30hp 4 stroke troubles

Hi there.
Got a 2007 mercury 4 stroke that always cuts out a few hundred meters from when i first take off. Turn the engine off and wait a minute, start it up and irs good for the rest of the trip unless i stop for a long time. The process just repeats again.
Not sure if its s fuel pressure thing? Any ideas?

Cheers

Possibly air getting into the fuel line when idle?

I do notice that if I start it up and just dribble along for a couple of minutes then head off it's fine. My gut feeling is something to do with fuel pressure.
I have had it looked at but apparently everything is running fine according to the diagnostics check...$400 bucks (service) later.Am going to borrow a another fuel tank & line etc and see if that makes a diffrence.

Hi mate, my brother inlaw had that problem took it to a mechanic and found the problem to be the fuel pump.

Hope this helps.

if its EFI then it sounds like an issue switching from the cold start program to normal operating program...

mine also did that, and it was something to do with the sensor on the inside. It was fixed under warranty.

Any chance you have the details of the sensor? I might look into that as well and see what sort of cost is involved. Who did you go through to get it fixed?

i got it done through ray schoals marine but im pretty the warranty is over for it though. there's a 3 year warranty on the motor. as far as details are concerned, im not 100% sure but it was some sort of sensor i think? they fixed it when i took it in for a service

Ok. Thanks.
By the way. What did the service end up costing you?
Have lost a lot of confidence in getting my outboard serviced due to prevoius dealings. Seems to be a case of who you know as some other friends I know have no problems dealing with the same people. But they are in the same industry...
Cheers for the responses anyway.

off the top of my head i would suggest it could be a water temp sensor/thermostat or even an exhaust heat 02 sensor, or manifold intake temp sensor, any of these will effect cold start data... they should be able to plug it in and read faulty codes and figure out which sensor is playing up
