Cheap Swags!

G'day!

I'm after a swag and after a fair bit off looking around reccomendations from a few mates now have been to have a suss of the gear from Burke and Wills. Cash has been put aside from my 21st so I'm ready to go!

I'm after the Coolabah model and have found heaps of variance in pricing...

The big snake had em for 500 bucks, but I've managed to find them as cheap as $369 inc post here;

Anyone reccomend any cheap retailers/online shops where I'd be able to get one or something similar?

great swags mate, but they weigh a tonne. No good for kayak camping where you need to limit weight. I bought one but took it back when i found one half the weight custom made. Google swags and compare weights.

What kind of swag did you end up with mate?

Needs to be warm and dew is a big issue down here so it needs to have a flow through ventilation...

That said having something bulky as would be a pain!

i have three swags:O lol, i have a burke and wills ironbark and it is a good swag, not many companys still use the thick canvas anymore, if you want a "going out with the boys camping" they fit the bill, mines gone threw hell and back. i have a king single like the coolabah and thats what i take when i go camping with the mrs, its alot more la de da and creature comforted, its called a jungle reef and set me back a staggering $150 delivered on ebay, thick canvas, pvc bottom, full fly net and heaps of internal pockets, told you it was flash!. had it for over two years and it is treated nice compaired to my other swags but for the price its awesome and doesnt show any sign of wear

Thanks for the replies!

Yep JIM1 15 oz canvas and a decent pvc floor is a must and I've noticed a lot of companies are using 12oz and 'waterproofed canvas' floors which probably has a bit to do with that so many cheaper swags wet out?

Funny you say you're stoked on that Ebay cheapie because I've also sussed those Jungle Reef swags and on paper they seem to tick all the boxes... For example their singles have all the specs, and are marked down from $598 to $199!?!

Seems too good to be true...

Kinda like how on paper a Daiwa Aird looks like a Certate...

Ps. Jords it sounds like you're onto something.

I have a few swags for my family . check them out carefully and dont buy a cheap peice of imported junk. you will be very pissed off the first time it rains . A few of my mates use the Bourke and Wills and are happy .Make sure you spend the extra few dollars and get one with the center hoop,.

all the best Damo

Thanks for the info guys . This is just what I will be looking for come tax time. I will tell the mrs she can have the car drop me off and come get me in a couple days . It would be sweet to just pull the canoe up the bank and crash for the night or a few hrs. Then hit the fish again asap no time wasted and no worrying about where I have left the car.
