Aussie Permit on fly

This Saturday Rob Paxevanos "Fishing Australia" will feature two Permit being caught on fly under the guidance of Brett Wolf guide in the Exmouth area. By all accounts great viewing - I know I'll be spewin if I forget so big note on the fridge I think. Pat.

Yeah saw it in the fly fishing film festival last year. I think that was filmed out of Broome from memory - permit on floating crab patterns near a jetty from memory. The Mad Phil guys should be able to confirm that but I'm sure it was in Broome. Anyway Brett was describing on another forum how Rob breaks off the first of 3 permit after it made a run for the mangroves. Brett was also saying that the Permit are a different species to other one's filmed and landed on fly in Australia which is interesting. I wonder what specie are the ones that were netted on the Noosa north shore last year and reportedly sold for two dollars a kilo for cat food - or something ridiculous like that. Pat.

The ones on the TV show will be Blochiis and the ones on Heads or Tails are Anachs.....I think that's how it's spelt anyways.

Yew to permit....I want two...Utah...Get me two!

Phil

Forgot..Noosa ones were anachs from memory.

'Twas good wasn't it - like to know what Brett was charging for the guided service. Anyone know exactly where this "new" hotel is relative to the caravan park at the tip ? Be a bit more comfy than sleeping in the little escort panel van with the mouse traps set every night. When I was up there in Oct '93 I averaged two mice a night and I wouldn't have had my head down for more than 1/2 an hour and the first would go off at night. Should have used 'em for bait Pat.
