Berkley Venom Rod

Hi all,

A range of New Berkley Venom Rod designed and tested by Adam Royter. Have anyone feel it before and what is the price range? Any info would be great...

Thanks

Great rods - I've used the Blood Python & Mexican Racer - really light, crisp action, especially with the titanium sic guides.

They've really been tailored with blank actions to suit hard body & soft plastic fishing...so ideal for bream angling...

There's the 12 rods in the range - & to be retailing btwn $350-$450.

Some help I hope...

Kris

As I mentioned from using the Mexican Racer & Blood Python...really impressive - considering the price bracket as well....

Kris,
How'd you find the Blood Python? Of the rods this would be the most appealing to me. How would you descibe the action?

Hi BWJ - I am lucky enough to have Adam Royter as a sometimes fishing buddy - and he uses the Blood Python particularly all the time, so that's how I have road tested the 2 rods...I mentioned I came across this thread & asked him to describe the rod for me, as my description (or lack of techincal tackle vocabulary) would do the rod no justice...so...Adam's lowdown:

"The blood Python's action was developed primarily for hard bodies. It's action is quite parabolic and the tip falls away very easily! The theory behind it is, so when slow rolling or twitch-working hard baits and using lines like 3lb straight through, the fish will swim over and grab the lure - and the rod will evenly start to load.
While this is happening, you as the angler will keep constant pressure on the fish by continuing to turn the handle. This will 'lead' the fish out of it's cover without it really knowing what's going on! And by the time it works it out it's too far away from home to tow you back there! This technique works really well slow rolling! One of the best searching methods.
The rod's non-aggressive action will hold the hooks in your fish without the 'bang shock' of a stiff rod hook set, because it still has a little bit in the butt. Recommend using UL11 Owner hooks. It's a great technique if you haven't tried it. But as usual, as things progress and I get to play more and make changes, the rod has evolved slightly.
This rod really is a supreme tool for fishing light fluoro or nylon straight through, or light leaders on braid. It's so damn finessey and light in weight I can't put it down. I use it all the time. Such a great trout spin stick too. And yes it fishes plastics too so don't get ya knickers in a twist!! Not as good as the Mexican Racer but! That's a Mexi-can rod, not a Mexi-can't!!! haha...Cheers for the question Kristina"

Hope this helps!

Kris

That's quite funny Kris, he would be rolling in laughter if he heard that.
!!!

These rod are the second generation PRO Tactics that Adam had a hand in building as well.
I owned one of the previuos models but busted it and have missed ever since, might have to have a look at the new ones.
Sound interesting.
Dale.
