Diawa Interline

Anyone had a play with the new Diawa Interline rods? I havn't quite got my head arround the concept yet (and I know it's not brand new) but they seem to be getting a strong sales push from Diawa and I was interested in any opinions.
Cheers Paul

i've played with a couple of the lighter models, they feel pretty nice.
i'm just a bit worried about the whole concept of interline rods. i know they say that water doesn't get trapped inside the rods, but what about stuff in the water? ie mud, dirt, etc that can build up over time?

there is a cleading kit available with them and with the hyper dry blank you can flush them out with fresh water and leave them upside down to dry out.

does your leader knot ever enter the rod?

depends on the leader length but anything more that 6 inches it does.

Why do you ask that?
If your referring to the leader knot getting stuck or hitting exiting the blank than the front ferrule is tapered to reduce this and they recommend the use of a specific leader knot in which both the tag ends are facing backwards towards the reel seat so there is nothing to catch.

They are suitable to leader up to 20lb at current stages with heavier ones meant to go into testing soon.

apart from that they have a very crisp action and are super light in the hand. Also no worry about lining the guides up when putting to two halves together as there non existent

They take a while to get used to but they are a very sound concept although they are overpriced IMHO but if you want the best then you have to pay for it.

Hey Boris you seem to know your stuff about the interline , can you explain how they are harder to adjust to compared to the stock standard spin rods now? Also can you run the average braid and Mono on these rods? How much do they cost in the local tackle store?

Thanks in advance Tony,

maybe verging off topic a bit,
but i have the tournament master z guided 'megabait' rod. made of the same gear. they are very light and attractive rods in the guided series, in case u weren't 100% keen on interline. there is a light spin model, the 'zero' i think its called. the price is about the same though.
dunno if this helps your cause

Paul a lot of what Daiwa does is all marketing hype. The interline rods were on the market previously and they stopped them because they didn't work.

I am very scepticle about big companies and their marketing budgets.

Currently 'Bling' is the in thing so a lot of their rods are made to attract those looking for bling factor and there are lots paying big bucks and getting sucked in.

Hi Mate

I have a Daiwa Tournament Z Interline and it is an absolutely awesome mate. Casts lures and jigheads an absolute country mile. Easy to clean easy to rig. I really can't fault it and yes I was scepticle initially also but great rod.

Cheers
Bill

Would seem to be where things are heading yeah? Less components, lighter, less impedence to blank fold, cheaper to make...
