Upper Brisbane River???

HI everyone,
Wondering if anyone has fished the Brisbane River above Mt Crosby Wier particularly? Any ideas on access or water conditions, I.E dangerous places, good fishing spots or just a general description of how what where. I have just joined this forum and am finding it an excellent source of information. An ex pom I was brought up on coarse fishing which is absolute catch and release, (not sure I'd want to eat a fish from any rivers over there anyway, though I understand they're now leading the way in returning waterways to acceptable standards). Ok i'll stop waffing now.
Regards John.

send a PM to yaker, he seems to know whats the go in Sth East QLD. Or probably best to check out his website:
www.aus-kayak-fishing.com.au

you may even be able to catch up with him depending on your location.

Nearly right shoey, it's www.aus-kayak-fishing.com (no .au on the end).

I haven't fished up that way and notice in the street directory that the stretch from Mt Crosby Weir to the Kholo Bridge is marked as "No Canoe Access". I don't know whether that means you're not allowed to canoe there or whether there is no bankside access. Above the bridge and below the weir are part of the "Brisbane River Canoe Trail" . That'd be a hell of a long portage!

There's an article on Brissy River Bass at fishnet and you may also learn something at Garry Fitzgerald's site Fishing Queensland's Freshwater.

cheers, Tony

Upper Brissy River

John,
Go and talk to the people at Rosco's Canoes. The young lady (I believe it's the owners daughter) wrote an article on their web site about canoeing down the upper brissy river. Also get onto Randall @ the House of Lures http://houseoflures.tripod.com/hol/index.html
Randall has fished the upper brissy river alot and can fill you in on all the info. Tell him 'Jed' recommended him to you.
Hope this helps.
GJC
