Bream rod for the rocks

Gday guys, i've been fishing off the rocks for awhile now but only been recently getting into bream fishing off the rocks. I've got a crappy 6kg rod that i've been using it for the bream off the rocks but now I want to get a good one with a soft action but also have enough guts for me to lift the bream up from the water and occasional enough guts to fight the drummer.

I've been looking at the wilson MT4144 2 piece which seems pretty good, i would love to get a snyder one but pity they dont make them anymore.

I would love to hear from any one who has more suggestions on which rod

Cheers!
Dean

If you're talking rough water breakwalls and headlands Look at the Daiwa sea jigger 315. Might be a bit heavy for what you need but you'll have stopping power for bigger things that come along and will be great for punching out slugs and stuff if that's also on the cards.

If you're just fishing sheltered rock walls then any normal bream rod will do the trick but get a longer model over 7 foot. You could even look at an ISO rod but they aren't really sold here much and would need to be imported.

I was actually looking at longer rods eg 12ft plus

reason I want a longer rod is when your rock fishing you want to be able to have long rods so its clear from the rocks when lifting the fishing out of the water

I've got a PPG bream thats pretty good that replaced a lost Snyder Mag Bream which was a great rod. The MT 4144 is a good proven blank.
I tend to lean toward the slimmer blanks now.

4144 + 650 Alvey = perfect for rock & surf bream. ps. short rods = trouble for what you are doing. If you do a lot of night fishing, see if you can find a snyder glass one piece bent tip - I know they don't make them anymore but maybe someone has one they no longer use (good luck)!

speaking of Alveys I've got 2 60A models that are narrow spooled. One graphite backed and a metal backed one with a green spool. The narrow spool does take a little getting used to but they are lighter and the spool is shallower and they work really well flicking unweighted pillie cubes, royal reds and bread baits. Its pretty hard to beat Alveys around the washes.
