the combo will mainly be used for beach fishing and rock fishing tackling things like mulla, tailor, salmon and other beach fishing targets also want to use the same combo to set out livebaits from jettys while im breaming

try an ozflex beach rod, around $120.00-$140.00 then put a 12000 spheros on it $300 for a top combo, got ya in Balcatta had a 12ft rod and penn 8500ss for around $200ish, good value for the combo.

7144/8144 in one of ozflex's many configurations(the angler version is around $100) and have a look at the Tica GG100, big girl holds heaps of line(600m/80lb braid so mono is heaps) and could winch the plug out of the bottom of the ocean. Should get rod reel and line for around $300.
Ash.

i got a gg100 as a thrasher from a mate real cheap, glad that i scored it cheap because id never pay full price for one. the gearing in mines has fallen appart. if u are just after something that will work and not let you down, get a gs9. there about 160.

as for rods the sensor surfs arent bad, a little more than wat u want to pay but i really like mine.
