G. Loomis DSR 820 S GL2- What reel??

What reel will suit? looking along the lines of $200-300.
No brand preference. Thinking Daiwa or shimano though.
Have seen people on the forum with a sol on it. looking to use 4lb braid on 1 spool and 2lb fluro on the other. -or alike please recommend on that also.

Thanks in advance,
Melissa

Ok i had some great success with my stradic 1000fi a great little reel for the price, good drag stopped some good size barra on it. I got mine for $220

Then on the other hand you got ya Sols, never used one tho but have mates with one and they reckon there great, but i suppose its personal preference.
Just my two bobs worth.

Cheers

in that price range you could just about squeeze a 1003 Luvius on the rod...
im JUST about to commit to 1 myself (ex japan)

compatiple with the 1500 and 2000 size diawa spools as well.

I use a 2000 Sol, one of the best investments i have made in years, great reels. think that for the line class you want to run a 1500 would be the go...

Hotrods Have been saving to buy a Fireblood (it's taking a while) Then I spied a 1003 luvius and thought it looked like a great reel for the money ($379 on Ray & Ann's tackle and marine superstore) Is the Fireblood so much more expensive because of the technology, materials and components that go into the reel or at the end of the day is it more expensive because they know people will buy the product regardless because it's the new release on the market. Can the two be compared at all?

I wouldnt be surprised if the firebloods price was manufactured on the idea of peoples stupidity/desire!! Gotta admit watever it is Everyone secretly or not so secretly wants one! the luvias however you can get for $230 USD inc postage. @ japantackle.com

Mel..here for th SOL specs.
http://www.daiwafishing.com.au/daiwa...ur&product=sol

and your right MEl, market tolerance is a very interesting game...and as you have found out, with the help or this wonderfull interweb thingy a little reaserch can reveal a lot. ie Japantackle's great price !

ROG. ive had a play with the FireBlood, they are a VERY nice reel (for a shimano...lol)
price wise, probly yes as they sit in under the Stella, meaning it has all the top shelf goodies minus obviosly what ever bumpes the Stella up to top shelf...
ie. Certate and Saltiga - top shelf and almost top shelf...

Again it all comes down to 2 things, brand preferance and Budget...and i spos..colour..lol...thats Why im getting The Luvias, being all silver it will match my new SS701LXF (pink and silver) otherwise i would have got a Certate or something ...HAS to be asthetically pleasing or it just wont catch fish ! lol

go the sol, look around and you should be able to pick one up for $250,
perfect size for the dsr 820.
run some ''true'' braid on it though ive been using sunline super pe and love it.
although i bought a spool of cast away and its awsome for its diameter.
