If i was fishing discoloured water i would use a black lure with a rattle and if that fails, i would try fluro's.

gday
in darker water i would use a dark coulored lure as the silohuette would be greater to the fish as they cant see the colours that well . michael

g'day f.b.
i think u're right by fishing hard bodies as opposed to sp's, reason's being that a hard body gives off a lot of disturbacne in the water..... sumthing that the fish willl notice !!!
colour is prob u're second issue and dark is best followed by reds, oranges, chartreuse ......... colour isn't vital .........action is more important the other reason that i would fish hb's in really mucky water is that if u can't see the bottom or u don't have a sounder or u know it's really sanggy country u're fishing, then the right choosen diving minnow will keep the lure above the bottom ......thus fewer hang up's ........ which getts really frustrating when u start losing thousand of 'gamy' jigheads $$$ could try sp's but with a weedless hook or weedless jighead cheer's drew

I've had good success too with hardbodies in murky water. I agree with Drew about colour not being that important. I wouldn't only concentrate on the hardbodies though. Bream can still be effectively caught on soft plastics in even very murky water. I've caught them with softs often over the same areas I've just worked over with hardbodies.

what colour water would you call the area around East Perth/Causway? cos the only success i've had there is on fluro hard bodies...then again i dont have too many darker ones. Ya reckon it's worth getting a couple?
