cant afford the better rods yet due to paying of a boat and my awsome apprentaship wage of $6.50 an hour! lol

bloody apprenticeships, greatest rort still in Australia and well overdue for a change...... the only Loomis's Ive liked are the IMX or GLX and are hell expensive, especially like the GLX 6'10" that Nic and Hooked have....... so yeah make sure the GL2 suits what your after, im yet to pick one up but weight is a big factor for me.........

cheers

Thumbs up Just a thought.

Considering you're circumstances,I'd get either a Shimano 2-4kg.or a Berkley 2-4kg.
I've also just noticed at K-Mart,they have a new brand of graphite rod for Breaming etc;- And it didn't feel that bad at all. From memory it's a 2-5kg.
Shimano have the ET Special 2-4kg,& it come's with or without a 2500 Reel.It also felt very niccely balanced too!(You would get change back from $100. ;-)

Gae.

go with the pro tactic mate, really nice rods. ive got a 2-5kg tcurve that balances pretty sweetly with a 2000 certate aswell.
would probably buy either of those rods over a gl2, never been that rapt in them.

I use the pro tactic 2-5kg 7' for my 'heavy' fishing, when something with some balls is needed, and a Starlo Tournament litespin for the delicate stuff.
The pro is a bit more rigid at the tip but still good for chuckin' small lures.
I do like the lighter pro model though, but in saying that some of the black diamond rods we have in stock are also in a similar pricing bracket. These are awesome too.
Can't comment on the loomis as I have never used one.

I have the Pro Tactic in 7' 2-5kg, ithink it is, ask Luke H he sold it to me. But I think it is great. I haven't used the Loomis so can't comment on it.
But for throwing around some eco's or Vib's it is great and has heaps of balls to pull the big buggers out from the woodwork.
Just my 2 cents.

You have answered your own question all by your self, it does not matter what brand the rod is as long as you feel comfy with the end result, if you have put your certate on the rod and you feel it was more comfortable than the Loomis then get the ProTactic, personally I would go fo rthe Loomis but only as that is what feels more comfy to me, but its not me buying a rod its you and it does not matter what I think when you have the rod in your hand it is what you think.

...They're both nice sticks, I don't mind the action of the GL2 for throwing crankbaits n stuff. Just remember, buy loomis and get the expeditor warranty which is another handy option when you're spending $200+ on any rod

just the 2-5kilo pro but thats more like a 822 loomis.
i have the 820 gl2 already 2 actually but the pro just seems way lighter.
first time ive felt the 2-4kilo pro tactic. not worrried about the loomis warentee thing as ive never broken a rod myself.
it seams most people who have the pro are happy but does anyone have or used the 2-4kilo model?
