Okuma Epix 20 or 30 ?
Bought an Epix 20 today, the only diference I can see between the 20 and 30 is the size of the spool ! and a 1 oz diference in weight! Is there any advantage in a smaller spool ?
I would have thought a larger spool would cast further? I have a 30 already and thought the 20 would be smaller and lighter! Any thoughts????? |

No wonder I havent had any replys! I rang the agents for Okuma and asked them the same question, It would seem the only advantage of the 20 over the 30 is less backing on braid (fireline) or less line in light mono !
Is there an advantage in having less backing? |

It would be marginally cheaper to fill.
The Daiwa Laguna works the same the 2000 and 1500 are the same reel, only the spool has been changed to protect the innocent. I'm guessing the whole Daiwa Hardbodyz line has the same thing with all 1500 and 2000 sizes having a common body with a smaller spool on the 1500. Saving manufacturing cost would be the main motivator for doing it this way.
