repair question

just a question on repair.

on monday arvo i broke aprox 15cm off the tip of my Sic Stick just below the second ring from the top. ( dont ask how , I am annoyed at myself enough as it is ) Is it possable to get this kind of dammage repaired and if so how would it effect the proformace of the rod?

any advice will be much appreciated.

You can remove the guide just below the broken section and put a tip on the end. You'll need to check that the broken section is not cracked down the length of the rod first.
As for action, you can pretty much forget using it as a bream rod unless you're planning to use it as a skull-dragging rod. I think you would lose a fair bit of sensitivity too.

If it's less than 3 months old Strudwick will replace it for $44 (sicstik pro $66). Losing that much of the rod ie 2 guides and 15cm (sounds like more if you take it back to the guide below) will change it's action completely CHUNQX is spot on.

I'd start saving for a new one (I'm assuming it's a 1 piece?)

I've broken three sicstiks (2 piece) and two sicstik pro's (1 piece) so you've got 4 more to catch up

Go and have a chat to Sewelly at Anglers Paradise and he will give you the heads up - he's a Strudwick dealer

Andrew

I found out today Strudwick is changing hands so the delay could be something to do with that.

5 weeks is a bit stiff tho I'd give them a ring and maybe arange something with Sewelly?

Paul told me but I've forgotten Some fishing related products company. Anyone else know?

All sponsorships are null and void also now I hear - those involved probably would have preferred to hear that from the company rather than through the grapevine

If I was a sponsored angler I'd be looking carefully at the contract. Can't remember exactly as it's been a while (and I'm not reading another law book for a long time) but there are rules on employment and contracts re: when ownership changes.

i think salmos right im fairly sure its outer mark thats taking over strudwick, dont qoute me though as im not 100% sure
goodluck in getting a replacement ive heard a few stories lately of people getting turned away when trying to get replacement peices for their struddies, but this was from tackle stores not strudwick themselves.
