rod selection $100 - $130

Hi
Just wanted suggestions on rods in this price range. I am trying to choose between the squidgy spin 7 foot, and berkley drop shot 7 foot. Also thinking about the Pflueger fast action spin? As this will be my FIRST soft plastic bream (sometimes flathead) rod, I would really appreciate opinions on the "best" choice for SP use. If there are other rods in this price range of similar quality i would like to hear your opinion.
Thanks all.

I reckon a 7' drop shot is too big for SPs for bream fishing. You may consider a 6'6" as a better proposition as an all rounder size. This is my own opinion anyway.
7' Dropshot is good for flatties and pinkies.
Cheers,
Alex

I use the 7ft2 dropshot for sp and love it, great rod, as is the 6ft8 model, and 79 bucks up here.

yer id go a dropshot too,a really nice rod for the $.alex,i think u will find just because a rod is longer it doesnt mean it is heavier, and thus less suited to breaming.if cambsy is landbased a 7ft rod is a better idea unless ur constantly fishing areas like the docks etc.

Have you had a look at the strudwicks? Sic Sticks are real nice rods around $130.

mate id go the dropshot
i use a 6'6 1-3kg and it flicks plastics really well, slightly to soft for HB use though. i think for the price you cant go wrong with a dropshot, im really impressed with mine.
cheers

Yeh, ive got a dropshot 2-4kg 6'6 and I'm very happy with mine too.it is stiffer than the 1-3kg, but still flicks plastics well, and handles hb perfectly. If you want a rod that still has finesse for breaming but is a little stiffer than others i reckon go the 2-4kg

Ive fished with a Dropshot 1-3kg, found it works quite well flicking SPs & HBs, plus have used it offshore in 30m of water catching pinkies, xtremely powerful when it comes to the crunch and not too damaging on the wallet at under the 100 figure.

I wouldnt pay that much for a sic stik mate there in QLD For $75 and then $90 for the pro's.
Iam not much of a fan of the dropshots i would go the Squidgy Spin.

I have the 7ft 1-3 series 2. It has a shaped rear grip which I find really comfortable and helps me with casting acuracy. I haven't found the 7ft too long most of the time although if I was doing lots of underhand casts 6'6 may work better. I use it for both plastics and hardbodies. I have a sicstick (not pro) in the 1-3kg and find it too soft and a little wobbly (doesn't return to rest after casting as quick as the dropshot) so use it very little.

I am thinking about purchasing another dropshot and selling off the sicstick or consigning it to my Kids (although at 7ft it maybe too long, but if it is I'm sure they'll fisx that quickly).
