Mercury V Yamaha

Hey guys I'm looking into a new Quintrex hornet trophy 435 and it looks like I have got the choice of either a Mercury or a Yamaha motor. I've been fishing on a hornet thats got a Yamaha 40 hp 4 stroke on the back and it seems to do the job. So I wanted to know what thoughts you all have about the Mercury 4 strokes?

I think you will find that mid-ranged Mercury O/B's are just a re-badged Yamaha's (someone correct me if I'm wrong), with different power heads.

Thanks guys for your reply. I looked into a Honda but some people where telling me that they were old technolgy, and no where near as good as the Yamaha's. Anyway made the big purchase today, I ended up going a Hornet 445 with a 60hp Yamaha on the back, I will put some photos up of it as soon as can. Im very happy!!!

natho,
your new rig should fly along with the 60 on the back, ive just got my new stacer [quintrex] 400 bass elite and very happy, i have a 40hp yamaha 3cly 2 stroke on it and goes like the clappers, the only thing is i hope it dosen't take 7 weeks for you to get your boat as it did mine.[not happy jan] good luck with the new boat and goood fishing.

Hey Robbo,
to wait 7 weeks for your boat is so harsh I dont know how you stayed sane for that long! All going well with my boat I will be picking it up tomorrow after it gets service
