twitching lines.

hey bass
might be small fish or short strikes, I've watched under size bream hit 3" plastics & after a taste lose interest. Once using snapback grubs I pulled a small bream to the surface to find the fish & about 4" of lure stretched out I think the plastic was stuck on a tooth or he just did'nt want to let go, any how it did let go & being stretched out to the max the lure came at me like a rocket & hit me in the skull. Not much you can do in those situations, best to move locations??

ive told you so many times. if you see a twitch jig it normally straight away so that if the fish dosnt have the lure in its mouth it will not spook like it will when you STIKE. if you feel the weight on them mabey strike but i would just wind the fish on. if the fish hasnt got it it should have another go at the lure as you havnt striked and spooked it. the only time you might strike is if you are fishing dangerous country and dont want the fish to turn its head but i still dont like doing that. a lot of the time especially on the gold coast if the fish hits it and you dont hook him or it dosnt have it when the line twitches it will mean its an undersize fish so i wouldnt be to worried. if a decent fish wants it he will grab it and hold on to it and it shouldnt be to hard to hook him. a lot of the leagal bream i get on the goldcoast hook themselves.

never strike on little hits and twitchs.. let them nibble and play.. when he has mouthed the placcy properly you will feel the weight come on, then skrike!

hey buddy,
maybe dont use so much slack line if thats whats happening? i have my line so its just slightly bowed.. i dont strike either, just ease back on the fish, if your jigheads are up to scratch you should hookup. HTH goodluck

and don't forget we all miss a few hits. Like take jake for instence last time at gippy he missed his fair shair of fish.. As for snapbacks i've had it happen many a time on the yarra.

But if you keep missing them try feeding them some line or you might have tomuch slack.

yellowfin bream are so different to blacks, you have to feed the yellows plastics i reckon, but blacks will nip and bite a placcy. I will tell you that a couple of WA's most consistent breamers strike on the touch every time. Quick reflexes are the best thing you can ever have when fishing for blackies, but the only time i fished for yellowfins over east, they never had it good the first time and I yanked it out way too much.
