Gold Coast Jacks....PB

just got home from an all nighter.
Hit Biggera creek at 5.00pm for 20 nice size poddy mullet then over to the seaway just on dusk and not a touch. Moved over to the north wall of wave break isl to get out of the wind 11.00pm still 0 for 0.
I Remembered the last time it was blowing and i headed for the marina out the front of Mariner's Cove where i had been dusted by a jack once before.
2 rods with liveies and one with a slab and i had only been there for 30min and bang im on, the slab does it again. 53cm jack is netted and in the boat. I Sat there for another hour and zip.

I moved around to the other side of the arm i was fishing and all i could get interested was 2 eel's, so back around to the side i started off but one arm down.
The area i was in would have been 10m by 20m so not alot of room to move. Out go's 2 livies and a slab. sitting there thinking oh looks like ill have to be happy with one jack when i spotted the tip of the slab rod give a bit of a flick. i gently picked up the rob and slowly took the tension. This 60cm jack didnt know he was hooked till i felt his weight, then didnt he take off.

Being in such a confined area i had to work fast to keep him away from the pilons but he was also netted and boated. after a short time it was time for another move up to in front of Versace, no hits but from what i seen and heard its looking promising.

For those of you who know isnt there a big difference in the size of a jack from 53 to 60cm, just so much higher and wider and the tails are nearly twice the size.

so i know where im off to tonight.....

cheers
oh pics to come.....

Nice fish but sad to see such a big fish taken considering they are not that common in any size let alone a 60cm one...... Each to their own I guess.....

The only reason i kept him was the fact that it was my first really big one. caught and kept many around the 40-50cm mark and will continue to as we really love a feed of fish once or twice a week.
Now ive hit the 60cm mark i will release any more im lucky to boat.

cheers
