Just a good fresh wash, run the prop while hosing it and give the foot pedal a light spray wish fresh standing up on its side to drip dry.

I never spray my unit or foot pedal especially, I clogged the last pedal up as all dirt and sand sticks to whatever you've sprayed into it!
Cost me 140 for a new pedal, 1st one lasted 2 months thanks to me spraying inox in and on the controls..... Lesson learnt !

Keep water away from the head and foot pedal, it will only cause corrosion and water damage.

I wash the whole electric (excluding head) with the hose and then with a soapy sponge. I wipe the head down with a moist rag. I spray inox all over the lower end and all bolts and nuts. Never spray inox on your foot pedal, nothing but dramas comes from doing that.

Cheers
Chris

I read the other thread on this and it does say minkota reccomend washing your foot pedal with water. I wouldnt do that, I have had many problems with foot pedals when you wash them. The ones that have lasted me the most time have been kept dry. If they get a salty wash by accident it may be needed.

Cheers

I had my footpedal playing up by oversteering, I washed mine out with some fresh water and hung it up to dry and the problem was fixed. I suppose some salt was sitting around something it wasn't meant to?
I guess cleaning it with water sparingly could be the best of both worlds?
