Hard body pics
I have just taken delivery of a whole heap of hardbody lures I would like to take a few pics of and get them up on here to start getting people drooling over them. My question is HOW? I have a Nikon D90 DSLR and that's as far as it goes :/ I know to focus on the eye and I have been trying to put them on a black background but I am having issues trying to get the most colour through the lens and achieving a good depth of field. I do not want to be posting a completely novice picture of the lures. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Luke

I'm no photographer but I find the best looking lure pics are always taken in the environment in which they were designed to be used. For example a bream lure sitting on a log resembling a snag looks awesome.

i agree completely. the best lure porn IMHO is where ther are wet lures sitting on a log or the pebbles of a bank, in their natural environment.

Sorry for the lack of response I have been working away where phone reception is null! I go a really helpful pm from jgarner and I'm really liking the "natural" option. I took delivery of a tripod the other day so I will start trying to get some decent pics up and then you guys can start nagging your tackle stores to start stocking them

Have you read the operating manual that comes with the camera chances are it may help. Reading manuals are a drag I know ('scuse the pun) but there should be heaps of tutorials on U-Toob that could help as well. Cheers Pat.

I did actually start reading it but with the Nikon manual being 3x larger than war and peace I decided to do the bloke thing and put it back in the box lol

Each camera and lens will show colour slightly different. For your colours go into the menus and look for brightness and contrast settings adjust them, take a pic and adjust again to your happy, I have d200 and 300 and haven't played much with 90 apart from a quick shoot with a mate so not sure where they are in your camera.
Don't shoot in auto, go to aperture priority or manual, aperture is convenient to start with, you can control the depth of field easier. Search Google for two important parts of photography, rule of thirds and depth of field, it will give you an understanding of these function. Change your white balance and play. Have fun with it, if you post images and ask people should be able to tell you how to adjust. 20 years taking pics and im still learning. Make small changes. If you want more help PM me. |
