Help with Jerkbaits!
Need advice on how to retrieve jerkbaits effectively for bream. Should I be twitching the rod upwards, sideways or down towards the water? What sort of retrieve works for you? Any advice would be great
Cheers Oli

I have been using Marias and have caught a few to 35cm, nothing huge, but I have been using a slow roll with a twitch with the rod on the side and a few pauses. Mix it up is what I do, bump them into rocks and snags and near reeds.

Hey mate, I twitch down, up, and sideways depending on what you want the lure to do. Up seem to keep the lure a little shallower.
Also make sure your twitch against slack line. Allows the lure to move freely and get a better action. Also prevents the rod from loading before the lure moves. You only need a small amount off slack line, bring ya tip back a little then twitch against the slack. Or multiple twich depending on how the fish are reacting. Hope this makes sense and helps a little. |

I twitch up down sideways just depends on the structure im fishing. The main thing is just to get some erratic movement into the lure like its a dying fish. good luck.
